About Standards & Labelling Program
Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) is an agency of the Government of India, under the Ministry of Power, established in March 2002. It plays a crucial role in promoting energy efficiency across various sectors of the economy. One of its key initiatives is the BEE Star Labeling program, which aims to standardize and provide consumers with information on the energy efficiency of appliances and equipment.
BEE certification is a mark of excellence in energy efficiency, indicating that a product, building, or industrial unit meets the specified energy performance standards set by BEE. This certification is voluntary but highly sought after, as it not only demonstrates a commitment to energy conservation but also helps reduce energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions.

The scheme was launched by the Hon’ble Minister of Power in May,2006 and is currently invoked for equipment’s/appliances Room Air Conditioner (Fixed Speed), Ceiling Fan, Colour Television, Computer, Direct Cool Refrigerator, Distribution Transformer, Domestic Gas Stove, Frost Free Refrigerator, General Purpose Industrial Motor, Moonset Pump, Open well Submersible Pump Set, Stationary Storage Type Electric Water Heater, Submersible Pump Set, Tfl, Washing Machine (Semi/Top Load/Front Load), Ballast, Solid State Inverter, Office Automation Products, Diesel Engine Driven Mono set pumps For Agricultural Purposes, Diesel Generator Set, Led Lamps, Room Air Conditioner (Variable Speed), Chillers, Agricultural Pump set, Microwave Oven, Solar Water Heater, Deep Freezers, Light Commercial Ac Fixed Speed, Light Commercial Ac Variable Speed, Ultra-High Definition (Uhd) Televisions, Air Compressors, Tyres/Tires, High Energy Li-Battery, Rac (Cassette, Floor Standing Tower, Ceiling, Corner Ac).
