MTCTE (Mandatory Testing & Certification Of Telecommunication Equipment)

The Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, notified the “Indian Telegraph (Amendment) Rules” in the Gazette of India via G.S.R. 1131(E) PART XI on September 5, 2017, mandating Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecommunication Equipment. Telecommunication equipment used with a license under the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885, must undergo prior mandatory testing and certification according to parameters set by the telegraph authority. The objectives of Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecommunication Equipment (MTCTE) include ensuring that telecom equipment doesn’t degrade the performance of existing networks, ensuring safety of end-users, preventing radio frequency emissions from exceeding prescribed standards, and ensuring compliance with relevant national and international regulatory standards and requirements.
